GARMAN-RYAN at 50
The New Art Gallery Walsall approached us to work on the brand identity for the gallery’s permanent collection, Garman-Ryan at 50 – the collection’s 50th birthday. Me and Kerry worked collaboratively to work through both the identity and the brand roll-out of the exhibition, Kerry focusing more on the type while I worked with the colour aspect initially. We then worked together to produce of all of the brand materials for the launch. My role mainly focused on creating the printed guide, '50 favourites for 50 years' The collection is divided into 10 themes, with each having its own separate room within the gallery. The colours chosen for themes were selected from a painting in each of the rooms, giving each theme its own ‘hero’ colour which we then used through the printed guide, exhibition panels and terrazzo shapes within the identity.
